Monitoring home network activity -


i have complex home network , want able monitor network activity both inbound/outbound. network consists of 5 vlans segregate unmanaged network, user devices network, guest network, home automation network, , management network.

i have esxi server 2.4ghz 8-c atom cpu , 32gb memory. have 2-c , 8gb remaining can dedicate. 48 port switch managed.

i searched online , read various tools snort, untangled, sophos home utm, etc i'm not sure if need several of them, or one, , how provide monitoring of network know if suspicious activity found.

some features, not necessary, check mail (spam) , openvpn integration. i'd daily report if possible know how inbound/outbound bandwidth consumed. can emailed or viewed online.

i don't mind paying service, can afford $100-$250 year annual subscription. has handle multiple vlans, , 80+ ip addresses.

i can't regarding monitoring suspicious ativity, monitoring of health of network there various tools.

prtg network monitoring tool free 100 sensors. don't know if mean 100 host or if 1 host can consist of multiple sensors. don't have experience using it, know used monitoring network health , bandwidth usage.

mrtg can used if bandwidth usage of interest.

i'm working on few node & electron (atom shell) projects , i'm curious how them work without user having install node globally. i've seen few applications including node directory in project contains node.exe binary. how go setting node project use binary? edit: thought should add, i've searched everywhere answer this, unrelated results.
