powershell - How to use Excel for quering large data efficiently? -
for many years, i've used excel manipulate data , present results in neat form. however, recently, started new job , discovered barracuda-sized spreadsheets had multiple worksheets many, many queries, vlookups, etc. complexity , speed of workbook terrible , give me nightmares!
after hours of searching internet in hopes of finding ways make excel work more efficient, decided post here. question: there way of combining excel scripting technology in order make work simpler? instance, i've found out powershell can interact excel query databases. possible take advantage of in such way excel's application limited minor data manipulation , displaying results in nice table. i'd happy if data manipulation done outside of excel , values pasted specific excel cells vlookups eliminated...
this broad question. depending on excel version , license, may able use power query combine data sources, clean data, perform calculations outside of excel , load data excel data model available pivot reports. power query , powerpivot can work "big data", need "big hardware", i.e. fast processors, lots of memory , maybe 64 bit excel.
